What's with all these celebrities getting popped for DUI's, the three socialites above have all been arrested for DUI's in the past couple of years(some more than 1). What I don't understand is why are the laws in California so lenient towards celebrities. Come on, take Nicole Richie for example. She has been arrested twice for driving under the influence(that's what DUI means). The most recent time she was pulled over driving on the wrong side of the road! Not only was she under the influence of alcohol, she also admitted to taking pain killers and smoking marijuana. She pleaded no contest to the charges, went on some evening news show to apologize and spent 82 minutes in jail.....what? She actually only spent 35 minutes in a jail cell.
Lindsey Lohan got lucky when the DA decided to drop felony charges against her. In her defense, the girl really is an addict and she needs help but that doesn't change the fact that she got two DUI's in less than 6 months. According to sources this actually helped her case because it shows that she truly has problems with substance abuse(I'll remember that)
Paris obviously got the short end of the stick, spending over 20 days incarcerated for driving on a suspended license(a crime that doesn't compare to multiple DUI's). The big point that I'm trying to make is, it's not a big deal for these "celebrities" to get DUI's. They have the financial means to easily take care of the matter and the attention surrounding their arrests only makes them more famous. For some reason little girls still look up to Paris and Nicole as if they're great role models, the days of rehab being an embarrassment are over. Where I come from, getting a DUI is the worst thing that could happen to anyone, I guess it's not the same over there in Hollywood.
I'm mad,
