Strange weekend box office. Sweeney Todd didn't even gross 10 million dollars. That's a far cry from what Pirates of The Carribean did this summer. Obviously you can't compare the two releases, it's just Johnny Depp still probably made his 10-20 mill off of a 50 million dollar budget. National Treasure took the top spot with 45mill. It did better than the first one and beat Will Smith's I Am Legend by over 10 million dollars. Lastly Walk Hard tanked. John C. Reily just couldn't get asses in the seats. I didn't expect the film to do that well, seeing as it's more of an "adult" comedy, but considering it was "made by the guy who brought you Knocked Up and Superbad", it was a disappointment.
Oh and it's worth noting that the film nominated for 7 Golden Globe awards just barely grossed 1 million dollars.
