Unfortunately, the traditional Golden Globe awards have been canceled and replaced with a one hour press confrence to announce winners. This basically takes away all the glits and glamour that usual sorround this time of year, maybe even a bit of the merit that winning a Golden Globe might carry. Nonetheless, I've decided to list all my predictions for the major awards of the night.
Best Drama:
No Country for Old Men
Best Comedy:
Juno
Best Actor in a Drama:
Daniel Day Lewis
Best Actress in a drama:
Keira Knightly
Best Actor in a Comedy:
Johnny Depp
Best Actress in a Comedy:
Ellen Page
Best Director:
Joe Wright
Best Supporting Actress:
Cate Blanchett
Best Supporting Actor:
Javier Bardem
Best Screenplay:
Diablo Cody
I don't think Atonement can get 7 noms with out taking home a couple so that's why I gave it to Ms. Knightly and the director Joe Wright. I could see Angelina Jolie winning for best actress and the Coen Bros winning for best director though. And by the way... let's note, I haven't gotten a chance to see half of the films nominated so these predictions are based on reviews, hype and pure guessing.
