Radiohead+In Rainbows+Music charts

After being up for FREE download for months, Radiohead decided to release their newest album the good old fashioned way, on Compact Disc (AKA CD). Despite their previous offerings, Radiohead still managed to sell the most albums this week with over 150k units sold. This is great for Radiohead, the music industry and only proves that In Rainbows was the best album of 07/08!

You can buy your copy of In Rainbows via Amazon.com either on Compact Disc or by download.

Looks like 'In Rainbows' paid off!

According to reports, Radiohead sold over a million downloads of their latest album, 'In Rainbows'. Based on 3000 reports, Radiohead stands to make over 9million dollars. Of course these figures aren't exact, for all we know they're entirely fabricated but if you think about it, it makes perfect sense. About a third of the fans choose to pay absolutely nothing but the average price was around 4 pounds about half of what it would normally cost to buy an album (itunes, amazon, etc) and then over 50% paid over 10 pounds.

I think this is great for the industry and great for Radiohead. I don't think it was their intention to make millions of this record but hey, I'm sure they're not complaining. In the future I could see other artists following suit but honestly it would have to be the right group. Radiohead has a wide range of fans and most of all they're well respected as musicians. I wouldn't suggest 50 cent trying to pull this off.

cheers and goodnight,

My Radiohead 'In Rainbows' comments

I haven't even finished listening and I'm already in love with this album. I saw someone say "its a good cd for a rainy day", I couldn't agree more. It is definitely raining now (has been for over a day now)and this record does a good job of cheering me up. I like all the mellow tracks on the album, "Videotape" and "All I need" just to note a couple. Mellowness is what got me into Radiohead in the first place, I love their tranquil melodies and ambient sounding vocals.

I hope everyone took advantage over this download, if not, click HERE and do so!

10/10 Radiohead-In Rainbows OUT NOW!

Through out the day every time someone asked for the date outloud, I instantly responded 10/10! This of course is due to RADIOHEAD's most current release, In Rainbows, available only online (for what ever price YOU want though).

I noticed that the site was noticeably slower than it had been in recent days leading up to the 10th, I attribute this to an influx of eager fans, trying to download the new album (I'm in the process of doing so myself).

I will check out the album and get back to everyone with my official review of "In Rainbows". If you want to download the album you can just click HERE(I would just post the link they gave me to save you time or upload it to my ftp but I have too much respect for the group and what they're doing).

Radiohead all over the HEAD lines!

Everyone is buzzing about the new radio head album coming out October 10th. Let me remind you that the album is only available via download, the good part about it though is you can pay what ever you want for it! I'd be curious to see how much they actually make off this release. Obviously the point of putting the album up for download isn't to generate revenue but still, what if some die hard fans start buying the download for 2x what it costs in retail stores, 3x, 5x? Then again considering most people probably won't pay anything it probably wont work out in their favor.

October 10th everybody, can't wait,

PS. The album is called, "In Rainbows"

RadioHEAD releasing new album in 10 days!

Ten days from today, October 10th, Radiohead is releasing a brand new album. This might come as a surprise to most, probably because it was just announced. I got the scope from another blog late last night.

In the bands own words they say,

"Hello everyone. Well, the new album is finished, and it's coming out in 10 days; We've called it In Rainbows.

Love from us all.
Jonny"

Ok, so by doing this they avoid having the album leaked, right? Sure seems that way. On the 10th you can download the album, ONLY from their site. What they call the "disk box" wont be shipped until December. What does the disk box consist of?

NEW ALBUM, IN RAINBOWS, ON CD
AND ON 2 X 12 INCH HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL RECORDS.
A SECOND, ENHANCED CD CONTAINS MORE NEW SONGS, ALONG WITH DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHS AND ARTWORK.
THE DISCBOX ALSO INCLUDES ARTWORK AND LYRIC BOOKLETS.
ALL ARE ENCASED IN A HARDBACK BOOK AND SLIPCASE.

The disk box features a second disk in addition to what you would get via the download. If you're that much of a fan, you can purchase the extras in December for about 80 bucks! Best part about this whole release is the cost of the download is up to you! Seriously, you can pay any amount that you want greater than $0.00!

Radiohead is a great band so I'm real excited for this release, I also love how they're using the net to get their music out quicker and to a wider range of fans. Hopefully the album is as good as I expect it will be.
