just wanted to put something up before the festivities tonight...
What a strange holiday. The only holiday I can really think of that doesn't celebrate much of anything. Ask yourself, "why do I celebrate halloween?" I myself don't understand the ideology behind dressing up as witches or pumpkins, or slutty little girls. All halloween seems to be is, an EXCUSE. An excuse to be something you aren't; isn't that it? Why is it that every girl ages 14-34 has to dress up like a hoe on Halloween. Excuse me, they're not dressed as hoes, they're dressed as nurses, police women, maids, teachers plus that minor element of sex appeal. All that tells me is, for one night out of the year, girls just wanna get dirty. The theory extends further into the world of adults. Some may see Halloween as a child's holiday-they're wrong. Last weekend I stumbled upon a party down the street from one of my friends. We weren't invited to the party but still had the balls to go around back and enter the event. There were literally over 50 cars along the road so we figured no one would notice us. What we saw seemed like an underground exclusive cult gathering. Men and women, older than my parents, were dressed from head to toe in costume. There was a live band playing, a bar big enough to serve over hundered people and most of all, everyone was dressed up. What's their excuse? The chance to be young again? The chance to kick up their feet and be themselves again? Or just a nice excuse to get drunk with friends you may or may not know?
I've never had that great of a Halloween. Today I was forced by tradition, to dress up as a hockey player at my school. For six hours I lugged around uncomfortable skates, smelly pads and a plastic helmet. I had my share of fun, but at the end of the day I was dead tired and extremely irritable. Most of my other friends felt the same way but there were still a handful of people that didn't. My other Halloweens have included the basic "go out and get candy" routine or the lonely transitional period when you're too old to trick or treat around the neighborhood but too young to party like a rock star.
Oh well, I'm done writing about Halloween, it's time to go eat and then chill with the boys....
