I'd say Daniel Day-Lewis is a pretty mysterious actor. Most people probably haven't seen much of his work and probably view him as a the tough bad ass that he usually portrays in his movies. In reality Lewis is quiet the opposite. Do a google images search for Daniel Day-Lewis and you'll find that Lewis looks nothing like "The Butcher", Daniel Plainfield or the real life Gerry Conlon. In my opinion, Lewis is probably one of the best actors of the last 20 years or so because he literally transforms himself into his roles. Here's a great article that talks about Lewis.
