Cat Power's Indie Cred is Dead

Just an article about how Cat Power has evolved emotionally and also how she's gained a lot of commercial notoriety. Marshall has been getting a lot of press with her latest release, Jukebox, but has she completely sold out? Shouldn't we be happy that she's left her depressed self behind and grown into a serious musician and performer?

Cat Power @ Terminal 5

I've heard mixed reviews about the show. After Justice and M.I.A played Terminal 5, I heard it was a pretty shitty venue due to poor sound quality and the mass audience. I guess Chan Marshall, AKA Cat Power, ran into a few technical difficulties aswell.

I suppose this comment might just sum it all up:

"cat power should never play a venue like that again...the sound was awful, which basically made the show awful. it's hard to get anything positive out of a show when the people are screaming things like "we can't hear you" between songs. there was offensive feedback through the whole show which made her really awkward. i felt bad for her." courtesy of BrooklynVegan.com, Thanks!

Despite the fact that her album, Jukebox, is due out January 21st, she's over in India trying to get kids some running water and new toilets. Yes, Yes, Yes! Cat Power and her band The Dirty Delta Blues are going on a small promotional tour in February. Tickets go on pre-sale wednesday for and will be available on ticketmaster.com starting Friday or Saturday. Cat Power's new album is scheduled for January 22nd release date!

Good news is shes coming to NYC. The bad news is she's playing terminal 5-it's only been open a couple months but from what I heard, it's a shit venue-especially for an artist like Cat Power. Oh well, a good artist should be able to play live anywhere....right?
